“Norwegian are very happy with the Airchair. We take great pride in providing safe and comfortable travel for all of our passengers and providing for all of their needs. The Airchair is installed on all of our aircraft both longhaul and shorthaul, so far we have had no faults reported on them”
“The Airchair is an incredibly well designed wheelchair, combining lightweight yet deceptively sturdy construction, with amazing mobility and an effortless glide. With these key features, the Airchair was selected as the preferred on-board wheelchair across our fleet of over 100 narrow body aircraft.
Not only is the wheelchair itself remarkably easy to assemble and use, Airchair is a fantastic supplier to work with; always receptive to new ideas and helping us customise the optimum solution for our crew and guests.”
At SAS, we believe that travel is for everyone and we want to ensure that all our passengers have an easy and comfortable journey from start to finish. We are pleased to use the Airchair to accommodate passengers with reduced mobility on our long-haul flights. The Airchair does exactly what it is supposed to – it is light, easy to manoeuvre and ensures all our passengers have a comfortable flight.
We chose Airchair not only because it allows our passengers to travel securely, easily and with dignity, but also because of its clever design, which makes it straightforward for us to use on our aircraft. The Airchair is impressively lightweight, robust and comfortable for our passengers. It is simple to use and its compact, folding style allows us to stow it away with ease.
We are extremely pleased with the on-board wheelchair, Airchair
- Lightweight and easy to stow
The Airchair, made from high strength aluminium alloy, incorporating anti-microbial paint, is extremely lightweight (max 6.3kgs). It is supplied in a neat carry bag so that it can be stowed in overhead lockers, wardrobes or the dog box and is quick and simple to unfold to make ready for use.
- Folding back rest
The back rest folds to the rear using a simple ‘push to release’ bar. This feature enables the aircrew or carer to move closer to the passenger and assist a safe and smooth transfer of the passenger from one seat to another without creating unnecessary strain.
- Swivel, locking castors
The swivel castors ensure it is very easy to manoeuvre the Airchair in tight spaces. Push-on, push-off brakes, easy to apply or release by the operator, help control the movement of the chair and guarantee maximum safety at all times.
- Robust but comfortable and stable
The Airchair seat and backrest are made from fire retardant, high quality, wipe clean leather and the wheelchair can carry passengers weighting up to 250kgs (40 stone). Waist and thigh straps and side restraints keep the passenger safe whilst their feet rest on a fold-away footrest during transit.
The Airchair conforms to the following specifications:
- EU 1107/2006
- UK DPTAC
- US DoT 14 CFR 382
And is virtually maintenance free.
